Seeing-eye dogs:

  • Accepted in cabin only when serving as passenger guide
  • NO charge when serving as passenger guide
  • Passengers are individually responsible for presenting a "seeing-eye dog" certificate and complying with sanitation/import requirements for any countries transited as well as the destination.
  • Seeing-eye dogs must be equipped with their own harness and collar.

Assistance Animals

Trained assistance animals

Trained assistance animals are permitted on board. According to the safety normative a service animal can’t weight more than 90 Lbs / 41 Kg, and most accommodate in a position that doesn’t obstruct the exit for passengers in case of emergency: under the seat, in front in the floor o next to you if there is enough seats availability.

Emotional support animals

Animals used as emotional support will be accepted in the cabin according to the following restrictions:

  • Weight under 90 Lbs / 41 Kg
  • Documentation, with emission date of no more than one year, from a mental health professional certifying that you have a disability related to mental capacity, that you are under professional care and need the animal emotional support to travel.
  • For safety reasons if you are traveling with an assistance or emotional support animal, you can’t seat in an emergency exit row.

Live animals permitted in cabin:

  • Up to 2 animals per flight-including both pets and seeing-eye dogs-may travel in the cabin; only cats and dogs are accepted on international flights.
  • Requirements: Passengers are individually responsible for complying with all sanitation requirements and permits for any countries transited as well as the destination.

Charges for none trained assistance animals or seeing-eye dogs:

The transportation of pets in cabin has a fee of USD 75 each way.

  • Carrying cases: A separate, leak-proof container sufficiently large for the animal to stand up and turn around is required for each pet. Only one pet is allowed per carrying case.
  • Maximum weight of container including pet: 17.6 lbs. (8 kg)
  • Maximum measurements: 17" long x 12" wide x 7" high (43.2 x 30.5 x 7.8 cm)

Cargo transportation of live animals for commercial use

Some live animals for commercial use (individual pets and seeing-eye dogs are not included) are accepted only as cargo. For more information please see TACA CARGO. TACA does not accept live animals as checked baggage on any flight.
